After seeing a transformation in a couple of friends and my mum I was AMAZED, they looked so much healthier and so much younger and I couldn't quite pin why they were looking so fabulous lately.
Well each time I wondered this I asked and the response was "I had my colours done". So the journey began and my judgemental attitude began to change, and loving colour the way I do I became more and more intrigued about this whole colour analysis fuss. Being a Yr 1 primary school teacher I made the most of my holidays and signed up to do a 2 week course to learn all I could and decide once and for all what I thought of Colour Analysis.
Well I LOVED IT! The course started with learning about colours and experimenting with water colours - warm and cool, contrasting and complimenting. Colour analysis was a huge deal back in the 50s all the movie stars would be dressed in the colours and looked stunning, I've always thought the women in the 50s looked so beautiful and glamarous and wondered why. Well most of the costume designers were trained in colour analysis. Unfortunately after that a whole heap of people were trained incorrectly in the 80s and 90s and this pretty much messed up the true purpose of colour analysis. You may have even had your colours done wrong during this time.
Colour Analyis is based on your NATURAL skin tones and hair colour, your natural colourings. There are fours seasons; SPRING, SUMMER , AUTUMN and WINTER depending on your natural colourings you will fall into one of these seasons. If you have warm colourings you will be Spring or Autumn if you have cool colourings you will either be a Summer or Winter.
Every season contains different shades and tones of every colour, so no matter what season you are you don't miss out on being able to wear any particular colour, you are just shown the best shade for you.
It is UNBELIEVABLE how much younger and healthier people look when they wear the right shades of their colours. I've seen people have dark circles, wrinkles and red patchy skin and simply by wearing the colours that compliment them best they instantly have a more even and healthier looking skin tone and look so much younger. I guess it's one of those things you just have to experience yourself!
I would like to sign off by saying I am not the colour natzi! I myself am a SPRING and black is not my best colour however I do have some timeless black pieces in my wardrobe that I wear, however when I do this I make sure I wear spring makeup and perhaps a spring coloured scarf or piece of jewellry. So be assured if you have a most favourite shade of a colour that is not in your colour palette you will not be banished from wearing it, there may just be some suggestions that makes it work alot better from you.
I will be taking bookings for colour analysis again next month as I'm in the process of setting up a new consultation room at the moment. Can't wait to COLOUR YOU PRETTY!
